Pipe Weight Calculator

Pipe Weight Calculator

Estimate the total weight and cost of metal pipes used in construction, plumbing, and structural applications.

About Pipe Weight Calculation

The **Pipe Weight Calculator** determines the total weight and estimated cost of metal or PVC pipes. It considers material density, dimensions, quantity, and waste percentage, helping engineers, builders, and contractors in accurate project estimations. This tool is essential for planning material requirements, transportation logistics, and budgeting in construction and industrial applications.

Formula Used

Weight (kg) = Volume (m³) × Density (kg/m³)
Volume = π/4 × (OD² - ID²) × Length

All dimensions are converted into meters. If wall thickness is provided instead of inner diameter, it is used to calculate ID as: $ID = OD - 2 \times \text{Thickness}$.

Example Calculation

**Material:** Steel (7850 kg/m³), **OD:** 60 mm, **Thickness:** 5 mm, **Length:** 2 m.

**Calculation:**

ID = 60 - 2×5 = 50 mm
Volume = π/4 × (0.06² - 0.05²) × 2 = 0.0017279 m³
Weight = 0.0017279 × 7850 = 13.56 kg

Common Material Densities

  • Steel — 7850 kg/m³
  • Stainless Steel — 7900 kg/m³
  • Aluminum — 2700 kg/m³
  • Copper — 8960 kg/m³
  • Brass — 8500 kg/m³
  • Titanium — 4500 kg/m³
  • PVC — 1380 kg/m³
  • Cast Iron — 7200 kg/m³
