About Snow Load and Roof Construction Material Calculation
The Snow Load Roof Construction Material Calculator estimates the total roof load due to snow accumulation and material self-weight. This helps engineers and builders design safe roof structures that can withstand heavy snow conditions.
Formulas Used:
- Roof Snow Load = Ground Snow Load × Slope Factor
- Slope Factor = 1 - (Pitch - 30) / 60 for Pitch > 30° (min 0.3)
- Total Snow Weight = Roof Snow Load × Roof Area
- Total Load = Snow Weight + Material Weight
- Total Cost = Roof Area × Cost × (1 + Wastage / 100)
Example:
For a 120 m² roof with a 25° pitch and ground snow load of 1.8 kN/m²: Roof snow load = 1.8 × 1 = 1.8 kN/m² Total snow weight = 1.8 × 120 = 216 kN Material = Metal Sheet (15 kg/m²) Total load ≈ 217.5 kN, Estimated Cost ≈ ₹75,600 (with 5% wastage)
